Several specific revisions to the City’s Official Plan have been proposed by community organizations at earlier stages of the Official Plan review process and through recent consultation. These few important changes support community-based interests and address five topics:

  • Protecting natural areas
  • Addressing the climate emergency
  • Celebrating arts and culture
  • Fostering mid-level public engagement, and
  • Community collaboration in Official Plan implementation.

Reimagine Peterborough recommends that City Council make motions to incorporate and consolidate into the new Official Plan these revisions and adjust its implementation process. The specific changes to the Official Plan are presented in the Community Amendment report here, followed at the end of the report by a rationale under each section.

Among others, these additions to the OP are endorsed by the following Peterborough organizations:

Reimagine Peterborough

Peterborough Field Naturalists

Electric City Culture Council

Public Energy Performing Arts

For Our Grandchildren

Peterborough Alliance for Climate Action

Reimagine encourages citizens to call or email Council members to request that they support the Community Amendment and prompt adoption of the Official Plan – “Pass the Plan and Make the Amendment”.

Contacts for Council members can be found here.
